Christine and the Queens
Héloïse becomes Christine and the Queens
Christine and the Queens, whose real name is Héloïse Letissier, was born in Nantes in 1988. She studied literature and art. During this time, she was going through a difficult period. An explorer at heart, she decided to fly to London to discover new horizons and make a fresh start. She stayed in a drag queen cabaret where, according to her, she learned to let go of her inhibitions. From this experience, she emerged stronger and with a burning passion for music. Héloïse became Christine and the Queens.

An artistic identity in harmony with its natural strength
Inspired and determined to dedicate herself to her passion, she ended her studies upon returning to France to bring her new musical project to life. Her stage name, Christine and the Queens, pays homage to the London drag community that helped her find her voice and connect with her natural strength. Independent, she gradually rose to fame by opening for renowned artists such as Woodkid, Lykke Li, and Lily Wood and the Prick. She eventually signed with the independent French label Because Music and released her debut album, "Chaleur Humaine," which brought her considerable success.

A liberated and assertive woman
2018 marked the beginning of a new chapter in Christine and the Queens' musical career. She began using the stage name "Chris," coinciding with the release of her new album. By playing on the ambiguity of her identity, she sought to denounce the place of women in society, oppressed and pigeonholed. This androgynous identity was also a way to show her support for the LGBT+ community. Free-spirited and unique, her style and success didn't appeal to everyone. She was wrongly accused of plagiarism on several occasions in some of her music videos. Undaunted by the attacks, Chris lamented that men are admired and respected for their success while women's talent is doubted, with the credit being attributed to others.

MAEVY, the embodiment of the Wild Woman
Christine and the Queens has carved out a place for herself in the music industry independently, through sheer creativity and determination. She has used her doubts and difficulties to develop her self-confidence and create a unique artistic identity. Comfortable in her own skin and proudly embracing who she is, Chris is in many ways the embodiment of the Wild Woman MAEVY.
