Creating a MAEVY collection: all the steps
At MAEVY, each collection is the result of both creative and collective work. Davy, the brand's founder, and Marina, co-founder and clothing designer, imagine together collections that embody the MAEVY woman: free, independent, accomplished.
Each season, a new collection is launched at MAEVY. But before arriving on our e-shop or in your wardrobes, each piece goes through numerous stages. Today, we're taking you behind the scenes of this creation, alongside Marina, our designer, and Olivier, our production manager.
1. Inspiration and sketches 🖍️
It all begins in the design studio in Marseille. Marina, our designer, draws inspiration from her daily life, nature, and the light of the South. She imagines fluid cuts, natural materials, and above all, easy-to-wear pieces.
Once the general atmosphere is defined, Marina moves on to drawing. She sketches the first silhouettes, explores volumes, details, and color harmonies.
2. The choice of materials and the development of models 🧵
With her vision clear, Marina sets out to find the perfect fabrics: linen, cotton, soft knits… always with quality, comfort, and durability in mind. She carefully selects each material, considering how it will drape, how it will feel, and how it will age. The choice of colors is equally essential: at MAEVY, a vibrant and lively palette is favored, offering a variety of options while remaining true to the brand's identity. Luminous, natural, or bolder hues are chosen to bring character to each piece.
Then the development phase begins. Marina works closely with Olivier, our production manager. Together, they oversee the creation of the first prototypes, produced by our partners. This is a crucial step to validate every detail.
3. The photoshoot and online posting 📸
Once the pieces are approved, it's off to the photoshoot. This is where the collection comes to life. The photos are taken in locations that reflect the MAEVY universe: natural, bright, authentic. The objective To highlight the cuts, the materials, and above all, the attitude of the MAEVY woman: free in her clothes, free in her life.
Finally, each piece is featured on our website, complete with photos, technical details, and our styling tips. The collection is ready to meet its community.
