Les couleurs, nos alliées

Les couleurs, nos alliées

Colors hold a very special place in our daily lives and in the way we think about clothes.

As catalysts for creativity, we couldn't imagine our collections as anything other than a true explosion of color. Colors are part of our DNA; they brighten our sometimes gray lives. But did you know they also have beneficial properties?

Their unsuspected powers

Our clothes greatly influence how we are perceived by those around us, thanks to our style, our originality, our personal touch that makes it so that no one else could wear our clothes the way we do. But did you know that the colors we wear also play a role in the image we project to others? For example, red is the color of power, the color of leaders, so it's a color to wear on a day when you want to feel in control, or simply to go to work when you're feeling a little tired. So, by wearing a red dress or blouse, you're more likely to be noticed and seen as a bold person who knows what she wants.

Chromotherapy

Do you know what colors actually are? They are waves, which the brain processes like any other information. In fact, their effects on the brain and our moods are recognized and used in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine. There is even a whole new form of alternative medicine dedicated to them: chromotherapy. While not claiming miraculous effects, chromotherapy can relieve physical ailments as well as emotional distress. Each color has its own symbolism and properties, which we can utilize according to our needs.
Warm and cool colors have somewhat opposite effects. While cool colors are known for their calming and relaxing properties, warm colors stimulate us and give us vitality. Chromotherapists are therefore experts in using colors to soothe our body and mind.

Adding color to everyday life

While a visit to a chromotherapist might be necessary if you're looking for a real treatment, adding color to your daily life is child's play. Paint your office blue or green to boost your creativity, or a warm color to make you more productive. Add pink cushions to the sofa and wrap yourself in a coffee-colored sweater—these are comforting colors for days when you're feeling down. Alternatively, simply wear rose-tinted glasses to literally see life through rose-colored glasses—it couldn't be easier!
To illustrate all of this, here is the symbolism and properties of some colors:
- Blue is the color of freedom, listening, creation and originality. It is calming, even sedative.
- Yellow reflects self-confidence, optimism, and energy. Invigorating but not stimulating, yellow brings energy, joie de vivre, and also improves concentration.
- Pink is reassuring; it symbolizes happiness and tenderness. It allows us to literally see life through rose-colored glasses.
Green is commonly associated with hope, luck, and confidence. Like blue, it is excellent for activating our creativity.

Colorful clothes to see life in color

So why turn our backs on color when it can do us so much good? Our daily lives have been gray for over a year now, so let's bring some color back into our lives. Just one colorful garment is enough to dispel even a little gloom, and perhaps even bring a smile to the faces of those we know—who knows? We don't know the full extent of the power of color, so we might as well try.
At MAEVY, we love them and have celebrated them since our beginnings. They're not just beautiful, and today we wanted to share another reason why we love them.

So, what color will you wear tomorrow?
